Alternative Economies (event) Katie Ceekay Schedule: 10.00 – 10.30: BREAKFASTBAR croissants, fruit and more (included with sign up) 10.30 – 11.30: LISTEN collectively to the (live)sound-stream of Katie’s talk 11.40 – 13.00: WORK together in small groups on the Alternative Economies’ work session Alternative Economies is a worksession in collaboration with Platform BK and De Appel Amsterdam as part of their three day Collaboration Station programme. On Saturday November 9th, Katie Ceekay gives a talk in person at De Appel on commoning and resources, followed by a participatory work session. The talk will be (live)sound-streamed exclusively to NP3 | RE:Search:Gallery by the VOID team. After this the same work session at De Appel will take place at NP3 | RE:Search:Gallery in real time via Zwaan Ipema and Sonia Polidori as Katie’s proxies. Ra’fat and Katie will give a welcome word. |
Ra’fat Ali & Katie Ceekay
Ra’fat and Katie are the current LABitat artists at NP3 | RE:Search:Gallery. Tackling themes like imperialism and capitalism, they each address the acceptance of social norms through delicate methodologies that wish to offer insights into alternative perspectives. Ra’fat invites audiences to engage in and (re)write narratives that intersect with ideologies and identities. Katie (winner LAND Stipend) asks for structural change in both the cultural sector and dominant economics. Together their work aims to rewrite and reclaim, and for their November presentation they have decided to collaborate on the overlaps of their political and vulnerable themes and research.
