NP3 presenteert M0Bi Valley: Het KoffieDrabLAB – Koffiedik: van afval naar product @ Energize Festival op 5 juni 2015

M0Bi Valley is het onderzoeks-, proces- en ontwikkelLAB van NP3, waar kunstenaars, wetenschappers, onderzoekers, technici, ICT’ers, ondernemers, studenten, vindingrijke burgers en … nauw samenwerken aan nieuwe oplossingen in veranderende tijden.
Het project KoffieDrabLAB ontwikkelt NP3 samen met onderzoekers en wetenschappers van DNV-GL. Het onderzoek naar het hergebruik van koffiedik is ontstaan door een opdracht van het Rijksvastgoedbedrijf aan Ruud Akse (kunstenaar en artistiek directeur NP3) in het kader van het nieuwe, duurzame kantoorgebouw van de Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs en de Belastingdienst in de stad Groningen. Een van de belangrijkste afvalstromen in het gebouw is namelijk koffiedik: 400 kg per dag!
Ruud Akse ontwikkelde het Masterplan p0rtaal, waarbij een onderzoekende visie op duurzaamheid, (materiaal)hergebruik en (cultureel) ondernemerschap centraal staat. Hoe draag je bij om het leven in de huidige samenleving duurzamer te maken? Met p0rtaal ontstond de eerste samenwerking van NP3 met Superuse Studios en De Zwammerij. Superuse Studios is een Rotterdams architectenbureau dat op vele manieren bouwt aan een duurzame samenleving. Hiervoor ontwikkelen zij verschillende onderzoekslijnen die zich focussen op een specifiek segment van hun (ontwerp)strategie. De Zwammerij gebruikt de koffiedik voor het kweken van oesterzwammen, waar overheerlijke handgemaakte bitterballen van worden gemaakt.De hoeveelheid grondstof koffiedik biedt volop mogelijkheden om, naast de oesterzwamkwekerij, in het KoffieDrabLAB te experimenteren en te onderzoeken. Dit om te komen tot een duurzame manier van denken, produceren en consumeren. Waarbij koffiedik wordt ingezet als grondstof voor de ontwikkeling van nieuwe oplossingen en product(lijn)en.

Tijdens het Energize Festival organiseert NP3 samen Christine van der Vorm, ontwerper van samenwerkingen,het eerste M0Bi Valley werkLAB.
Hiervoor nodigen zij in koffiedik gespecialiseerde of geïnteresseerde gasten uit. Van afvalverwerkers tot ondernemers, van oesterzwamkwekers tot
onderzoekers, van beleidsambtenaren tot kunstenaars. In een besloten gezamenlijkheid wordt er gewerkt, gedeeld en ontwikkeld met als centraal
product: koffiedik. Van afval naar waarde!

NP3 presents M0Bi Valley: the KoffieDrabLAB – coffee grounds: from waste to value @ Energize Festival on June 5, 2015

M0Bi Valley is the research, process and development LAB of NP3, where artists, scientists, researchers, technicians, ICT professionals, entrepreneurs, students, resourceful citizens and … work closely together to create new solutions in changing times.
NP3 develops the project KoffieDrabLAB together with researchers and scientists of DNV-GL. The research on the reuse of coffee grounds originated from the commission of the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf to Ruud Akse (artist and artistic director NP3) in the context of the new, sustainable office building of the Office for educational grants and registration of students (DUO) and Tax Office in the city Groningen. One of the main waste flows in the building is coffee grounds: 400 kg per day!
Ruud Akse developed the Master Plan p0rtaal, with central an exploratory vision on sustainability, (material) recycling and (cultural) entrepreneurship.
How do you contribute in making today’s society more sustainable? With p0rtaal came the first collaboration of NP3 with Superuse Studios and De Zwammerij. Superuse Studios is a Rotterdam-based architectural office that is building in many ways at a sustainable society. Therefore they develop different lines of research, which focuses on a specific segment of their (design) strategy. De Zwammerij uses the coffee grounds for the cultivating of oyster mushrooms, from which delicious handmade oyster mushroom crispballs are made.
The amount of the recource coffee grounds offers plenty of opportunities, in addition to the oyster mushroom growing, to experiment and research in the KoffieDrabLAB. This with the aim to achieve a sustainable way of thinking, producing and consuming. In which coffee grounds are implemented as resource for the development of new solutions and product(line)s.

During the Energize Festival NP3 organizes together with Christine van der Vorm, designer of collaborations, the first the first M0Bi Valley werkLAB. We invited guests who are specialized or interested in coffee grounds. From waste processors to entrepreneurs, from oyster mushroom growers to researchers, from municipal officers to artists. There will be working, sharing and developping in private collectivity with the central product: coffee grounds. From waste to value!
