From January 16th artists Bart Nijstad and Eirik Jahnsen worked in the Central space of the RE:Search:Gallery. They created new work in the traces of the past year.
Bart Nijstad
In his work Bart tries to create antagonistic worlds. Everyday subjects play an important part. With recognizable motifs he tries to create a familiar atmosphere. Parallel to this ordinary world dream sequences and alienating compositions take place. When doing so Nijstad plays with the rules of what makes reality. For him this is what it is all about, creating confusion and restlessness in the mind of the beholder.
Bart will also sell a book filled with sketches used to create the installation (€15,00)

Eirik Jahnsen
Eirik’s work brings the viewer to a state of bodily exploration and wonder. By combining expressive gestures, transformed materials, colour and movement he triggers the viewer to explore something of themselves as they encounter his objects and installations. The final meaning of the work relies on the unique connection with the observer. Interested in the infinite possibilities of materials, his works are results of experiments and play in the studio, embracing chance to find ways to exceed the limitations of our ideals.
