SEQ. 1.0} }} NP3 } From REcontext to REconstructions
Exhibition: May 1, 2012 until October 27, 2012
Location: NP3.nu (from 2014: bur0 Gr0ningen)

The research project Re:-X-to-the-Z-to-the-ibit [Re:-This is the situation and the situation is many things} arose from the fascination of artistic director Ruud Akse, coming from his position as a curator as well as being an artist. This fascination was not born after visiting this extraordinary exhibition, but was fed by the media and the inspirational meetings with Bart de Baere and Luc Tuymans e.a., two years after This is the show. The fascination for the ‘real’ process and the ‘actual’ meaning in relation to the changing of times, increased.

The aim of the research project Re:-X is neither the crystallization of the presentation of the artist nor is it to create a coherently communicating exhibition and experience environment labeled by the curator but is the main question how we review this, with our current knowledge and the state of the art world as it is now. Taking into account both the perspectives of the curator and artist, but also the public and others involved. NP3 poses the question about the influence of time on the artistic phenomenon This is the show and the show is many things and its meaning.

Just like Bart de Baere’s concept, the method of the long term research project Re:-X-to-the-Z-to-the-ibit [Re:-This is the situation and the situation is many things} lies mostly in the value of the process, the intuitive reaction and anticipation of artists, curator, public and others involved. The most important incentive being is to revisit and delving deep into the methods, products and exhibitions of the past, reviewing them in their context of time and development and gain new insights and discover possible innovations for the arts of NOW.

In miscellaneous (presentation) forms and different sequences, NP3 makes, besides its own discoveries, analyses and interpretations, the insights, knowledge and experiences of various people involved, comprehensible and accessible for third parties.

From REcontext to REconstructions

Within this first sequence, NP3 shows the growing results of its preliminary inquest into the exhibition This is the show and the show is many things. During this preliminary research NP3 was supported by students of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen from the department of Arts, Culture and Media (KCM).
