Political Letters
Ra’fat Ali & Katie Ceekay
Finissage Exhibition Political Frequencies
Sunday March 2, 2025 | 13.00 – 16.00 hrs.
Programme:
13.00 doors open
13.30 performance by Ra’fat Ali & Katie Ceekay
14.00 SCRÍOBH [seedbed5] & RISALAH:
two letter & writing based participatory sessions run in tandem by Ra’fat & Katie
Ra’fat & Katie conclude their current exhibition with a combination of spoken performances and participatory sessions as alternative presentations of their Political Frequencies works. They come full circle to revisit the reiterative writing practices present in both of their processes, inviting the audience to once again partake in prompted engagements.
Ra’fat invites a writing experience with RISALAH, for participants to connect with poetry, emotion, narrative, reflection.
Katie initiates the final seedbed[5] SCRÍOBH, for participants to connect the seedbed dots by writing open letters in small groups, using the effective frameworks as outlined by Koen Bartijn & Sepp Eckenhaussen, in their guest workshop for seedbed4.
RISALAH & SCRÍOBH combine Ra’fat’s poetic aesthetic with Katie’s gritty pragmatism to create a space that handles politics from multiple perspectives.
More on seedbed5: seedbed5 SCRÍOBH is a chance for both returning and new seedbed programme participants to engage in an activated session that takes the discourse out of the room. Participants of session 4 are welcomed back to complete their previously initiated open letters, and new participants are invited to start this process fresh, or use the other (provided) seedbed material to initiate an action or a next step.
